Something to watch out for with Admiral Multicar!

This year we switched to Admiral Multicar so that my son could drive my VW Camper van occasionally and this was by far the cheapest way. He has his own car.
Initially they put him as main driver on both vehicles which was of concern as I am main driver of the camper van and drive it every day. I did not want to have trouble later on with a claim etc. if they discovered I drive it every day.
When we queried it Admiral said it was because he was the greater risk (being young driver etc). We had to argue and push to get paperwork that stated I was the main driver of the van.
Any insurance experts know if this is normal?

Insurers are highly unlikely to claim you are "fronting" when you declare a higher risk driver is the main driver when in reality a lower risk driver is, after all you will be paying a higher premium.
Some insurers do seem to try and be "helpful" by saying to put the high risk driver as main driver and thus avoid any issues in the future if he has a claim. Of cause others will say that its not being helpful but just money grabbing.
If you are the main driver then it is sensible to pay the lower premiums by having yourself declared as such but be prepared to substantiate that fact should your son crash it, particularly if its when commuting or such which would suggest its normal practice0 -
I guess I should have stated my son is insured with the multicar by admiral too, not another insurer, so they have the 'full picture' so to speak. He is the main driver on his car, as he is in fact driving that car every day for commuting.
I just hate insurance companies in general for the way they seem to be able to make up the rules as they go, but heaven forbid you forget to tell them something, or make a mistake and they will refuse to pay!0
