Gadget to watch other region DVDs on a UK player?

Does anyone know if there is a gadget that enables you to watch other region DVDs on a Region 2 player?

I have a lot of DVDs purchased in the US and have a standard player here in the UK that I can't watch.

Is there such a gadget?

You can use DVD43 to watch DVDs from a different region on your PC (see http://www.dvd43.com/).

You might be able to make a standalone DVD player "region free" by pressing a special sequence of buttons or some other method - type the model number into a search engine and see what comes back.

Like esuhl as already mentioned you may be able to make your own DVD player region free. Just google with the name of your DVD player. Otherwise it may be cheaper just to buy a multi-region DVD player than trying to find a gadget.

yeah if its just a dvd player then a code might unlock it - failing that you can pick up a "region free" player for very little.

If you want to simply view it on your PC, Slysoft Any-DVD is the best piece of software out there and it allows you to cut out annoying adverts or those warning messages that sit for 5 seconds before reaching the main menu.
