I have 2 children in high school, one who will go to 6th form next year. I do try to get them to put must stuff on a stick and print it out at school, but not always possible.
I need a cheap printer to buy and run, mostly print black and white with abit of colour. Any idea what is a good buy?

If you can do without the colour, then a budget mono Samsung laser printer will be vastly cheaper to run than a cheap inkjet. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Just wondered if you'd decided on this at all OP? Am on the look out for a cheap-ish printer which I need to only print once in a while (maybe once a month, coupons and the odd essay or letter) I'm likely to be dealing with replacing dried up ink rather than used up ink if you see what I mean.
Was looking at a Kodak as it appears to boast the cheapest priced ink and would make a difference but the printers seem to be more expensive...Am also likely to be looking for second hand either on ebay or Amazon to keep costs down or is it worth the outlay or is there something better anyone has found?0 -
Ive now had my HP one up and running a few days and its probably the easiest one we have ever had.
It was easy to set up and is a lot neater that the old printer. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Can I ask what brand your last was? I've been through 2 Dells and an Epson. My mother has also been through 3 Epson models and I am beginning to think they are programmed to last only 2 years no matter how constantly you use them or not. They also have expensive ink which seems to dry out quickly.Ive now had my HP one up and running a few days and its probably the easiest one we have ever had.

I was looking through review sites on printers and HP came up a lot. Not cheap though so am going to have to save and then ebay scour for what I want; will be a little way off purchasing if I do as a result I think.0 -

Any one in particular.
I am also looking towards a new printer, having had an HP 940C for many years, but recently died.
I never print colour and don't print out much stuff, but daily trips to the library is a wee bit annoying, although at 10p a time, quite an economical way to print0
