Nationwide Save to Buy

Has anyone else been let down badly with the above? I have been paying monthly direct debits into the above account in order to save up a deposit. I had an initial meeting with a Mortgage Adviser who has been virtually impossible to contact since then- despite leaving messages and being promised call backs.

In the end we saved up sufficient deposit and found a property we wished to buy but were told that we cannot progress as we have held the account for too long!
(We were 21 days over the 3 years apparently and Nationwide don't offer any other 5% mortgages)

    Account terms are clearly stated.
Account must be held for a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 3 years.

That's pretty pathetic of them really, they don't want you as a customer because it took you 3 years to save a deposit?
Dump them and move somewhere else. There are plenty of HelpToBuy mortgages out there and also I think Yorkshire Building Society do a 95% without any special schemes attached.
ps I have a SaveToBuy account myself, I had savings before I opened the account so it took me longer than 3 years but I've had that account for less than 3 years so I should qualify, crazy
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.
