withdrawal of tax credits application

hi i really need some advice.
i sent off my tax credits application yesterday but now i have decided that i really wish i didn't send it now because i don't want tax credits anymore. i have spoke to so many people who say that tax credits can be a nightmare with overpayments and the reason i applied was because my partner didn't work but now he should be staying work in 2 weeks and will get probably over £30,000 a year and i work as well so i know we won't be entitled then.
i really wish i didn't even start the claim and send it off but i did and i don't even want the money. i know it probably sounds stupid because it's "free money" but i don't want benefits and i also have savings to live on for now until he starts work so i don't know why i claimed.
i spoke to a solicitor because i work at a solicitors and they said just to ring tax credits and tell them that i want to withdraw the application as because it hasn't been decided yet that they can just cancel it. Does anyone know if this is true because i know it's hard to cancel once you have tax credits but i only send the application in post yesterday so maybe i have a chance?

If you're worried about overpayments, just put any money you get into a savings account and have it ready to be paid back - once you get the final award decision in around June-Aug next year you'll know whether you get to keep some of it.
If it turns out you earn too much this year they'll probably write to you suggesting the claim is terminated.0 -
maybe i will wait until next week and give them a call hopefully it will be on the system by then! thanks0
