no need. The item is still valid for its original journey

I did try this with one of my postcards that was returned. I popped it back into the post and it came back again! My details were diagonal and by the second time it was too late to try a third time - stamps are too expensive to waste.

I didn't know that, so thank you, that will come I handy when I have a return.. if the closing date is far in the future But it's a little pointless when the comp is over :(

Because it would have the routing code from the first journey.so the machines don't read the address.look on your letters for printed barcodes.these are the routing codes.

I work for RM, and I can tell you that in our mail centre all postcards are rejected from machines and rejects are manually sorted, majority of items ( machine rejects ) are sorted by agency temps who dont give a damn, then 1st class trays go to manual sorting frames where permanent staff are sorting them, 2nd class is done over night with agency temps again.

As for the posties from delivery offices, I cant comment, because I work in large mail centre, but if the postcard has been returned to a delivery office it has nothing to do with our machines, it is a mail centre sorter who mis-sorted the item.
