Halifax Sharedealing

Because I'm very disappointed with the company I'm currently with, I'm once again looking around for a reasonably priced platform.
I'm liking the look of Halifax Sharedealing and would very much appreciate others' opinions/experience of them.
I'm also nervous about who they use to provide the administration service.
Does anyone here use Halifax and know which company they use for admin. please?
Any feedback will be very welcome.
Thank you.

I'm now in the process of a full in-specie transfer from iii to Halifax. I was with them for many years before moving to Hargreaves Lansdown (until they became expensive). Their website is very basic but I never had any problems with any dividend payments or tax reclaims.
They also offer a live chat facility which can be quite useful.
To summarize - they are not HL but far better than iii who should not be allowed to operate in the financial services industry.0 -
I've always used Halifax. Never had a problem at all.
They're definitely not the cheapest, but the price is competitive enough. I think about switching but then you hear horror stories (plus x-o for example don't do div reinvestment, or they didn't when I checked) and so far I'm happy with them so just stuck with it.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. I've used Halifax for over 5 years now.Don't do a lot of buying and selling ,but no complaints .Settlements made promptly and dividends received and reinvested smoothly.
I've never had a reason to change ,so haven't.0 -
I`ve used Halifax for years and when it came to the Royal Mail float there was no problem at all unlike HL who let most of their clients down.0

What are you looking to transfer to Halifax? If it is an ISA or unwrapped, they will administer that themselves (I think). If it is a SIPP, it will be administered by AJ Bell.
Crucial to know is that iWeb is pretty much the same as Halifax Sharedealing, and administered by them, just iWeb is cheaper.
Halifax Sharedealing/iWeb websites are very basic but their services are perfectly good to hold your investments IMO.0 -
No problems with halifax here - they don't get mentioned enough here in my opinion. Handled a POA application for me very efficiently and never had problems with dividend payments etc. Costs are a reasonable £12.50 per year for an S&S isa0

Thank you to all who have posted on here.
Colsten - I'm looking to move my ISAs plus a couple of unwrapped funds from III; it's almost certain that I'll sell and convert to cash and then transfer the ISAs and then re-purchase once the transfer is complete.
III use FNZ which seems to be causing a few headaches for some on here (me included if what I read is true) so whoever I move to will most certainly have to not use FNZ.
What I'm after first and foremost is good (dare I hope for excellent?) customer service.
Cost is important, but service comes first for me now.0 -
If you want to stay invested in the same funds, there is no need to sell, but presumably you know this. I have previously converted funds to cash and then transferred and re-invested cash as this appeared to be cheaper than paying the exit charges. It all depends on what you are invested in and with how much.DiamondLil wrote: »Colsten - I'm looking to move my ISAs plus a couple of unwrapped funds from III; it's almost certain that I'll sell and convert to cash and then transfer the ISAs and then re-purchase once the transfer is complete.
investigate iWeb then. I think they are just as good as Halifax Sharedealing (who I think are just as good as the one that likes to portray themselves as the creme-de-la-creme, HL). But don't ignore other platforms - http://www.comparefundplatforms.com/DiamondLil wrote: »Cost is important, but service comes first for me now.0 -
Again, thanks to you all.
Colsten - I've looked at iweb and they are on my shortlist too.
But, having experienced some of the worst customer service I've ever come across, (right up there with British Gas) I'm bearing in mind what my mother always said "you get what you pay for".
I'm still mulling things over but this thread has helped enormously.0 -
I-web is fantastic and far cheaper. I would strongly go with them. I have used in the past: III, Selftrade, Halifax, HL, and IWeb all for equities.
From my experience Halifax and I-Web have been the best so far and service and customer care are identical. So better off going for the cheaper version. Only difference that I have noticed is they have different url's
Forgot to mention that I believe I-web has removed the option of regular investment, where as for £2 you can set one up with halifax which even allows you fractional ownership of shares.
If you plan to just invest lump sums then I-web is way forward. Even worth look at them for holding funds due to no annual charges...0
