Bank Account switch incentive

Hi. I recently opened a new account with First Direct, and manually moved all of my direct debits, standing orders, and salary payments etc.
Shortly afterwards I received an email offering me £100 incentive to use their switching service! (yes I know, I should've known, but I didn't)
I rang them and they told me the incentive payment is only valid if I use their switch service, so they couldn't pay me anything as I'd done it manually.
My question therefore is this; My old bank account is still open - could I go ahead and use the switch service anyway, despite their being nothing to 'switch'?

Yes, but in your shoes I'd set up a standing order to another of my accounts just so, as you say, there's 'something to switch'.

The switching T&Cs are on their website...just in case the e-mail only gave a summary of the details.
