Morning everyone. How are you? (Blergh, Monday again!) The weather here is awful, Winter is definately coming. I'll have to dig my gloves out when I walk to work. Does anyone else find that bad weather makes their mood different? It makes me feel carppy.
Not looking forward to going in this morning, got to face up to everyone since I didn't get on the plane on Thursdaynot sure what's gunna happen. I don't want to have to explain it all and keep going over it.
I need to sort myself out, but can't focus at the moment. I need a haircut/dye, need my eyebrows done and my skin's a mess (broke out in loads of spots last week). I also need to start eating properly, been surviving mainly off junk and snacks instead of proper meals
Another thing getting me down is that I'm gunna have to sell my car. I have nowhere to park outside my new flat as the council rejected my parking permit application  I don't use my car loads, but I've had it since I learnt to drive and it comes in handy. If I want to park it it will cost more per month than my car is worth. I'm worried once I sell it I'll never be able to afford to buy another car
Everything is piling on top of me now and I'm fed up. I need a change of lifestyle!0 -
Hi I replied to your last post
I think you really need to thnk about what you can/want to do etc. If it's studying for a degree then so be it.
I always think haircut/dye helps a lot. Model nights at hairdresser if you're short on money? I got a dusting (posh name for a trim) over summer.
With the skin either make or buy a face mask and really concentrate on cleanse, tone, moisturise.
With winter coming make some soup - put some recipe ideas (courgette is a nice one) in google and make some. Buy a flask (or you may have one).
Also have you thought about a light machine, sounds as if you may have SAD?
Can you appeal against your parking permit application being turned down? anyone you could pay for a parking spot privately who doesn't use theirs?0 -
Hi guys,
Thanks for the repliesstill not in the best place right now, but not feeling as bad as I have been.
My trip didn't go well at all, I got on the plane and then had to be taken off due to a panic attack!I'm going to have to find a course to help conquer my fear of flying.
I'm appreciative of all advice, although some is more helpful than others. If I don't find a comment useful I can just ignore it, no need to start whining about it!
My 'informal chat' seemed to go ok, but the job seemed pretty shady. The interviewer never contacted me again, but tbh I wasn't really bothered. I had another interview for a job that I really would have liked, but I found out yesterday that I didn't get it
Not sure what I want to do atm with my career (or lack of). My partner suggested starting my own business, so I started looking into that. I was thinking of opening a sweet shop or something similar, but a new one has just opened it our townit was only one idea though.
I tried contacting the National Careers Service but I didn't find them particularly helpful. Every job I thought was interesting needed at least degree level qualifications :undecided:
Write down what you want to do. And it doesn't matter sometimes if there is more than one eg sweet shop. If you like kids and having your own business, nursery etc. Could you do something on the side (Etsy craft) if you're crafty? Blog if you're into fashion.
If you really do want an interesting job you need to put the legwork in. After hours studying is hard but can lead to your dream qualification and dream job.
I hope I don't sound as though it's so easy (it isn't) but have been in your situation and worse before and it's so easy to procastrinate, get bogged down and then whee 5 years has passed. don't do that!0 -
Ah a final thing.
If you're going to be in your job for time being and flying then it's imperative you book yourself on a fear of flying course.
I'd go and see HR and/or your boss and explain and maybe they'll even pay or allow you time off to take the course. Maybe not.
Ignore who says anything to you apart from your boss or HR. Lots of people I know hate flying and luckily (one guy has his own business, drives!) they can get out of it on the whole or use ferries/trains etc. But your fear is a phobia, valid and nothing anyone should make you feel down about, embarassed about or pressure you about.
BUT however if you need to fly for your job and want to keep it then please do do the course.
Also panic attacks, maybe see your GP for medication for these (for just the trip) and a brown paper bag to blow into helps too. Take care!0 -
Thanks for the replies MissD, your advice is much appreciated
The weather here is still pretty bad, everyone in my office seems to feel worse now it's coming to winter! I'm much more of a spring/summer type...although I do enjoy Halloween/Bonfire night and Christmas
Work was a bit awkward after what happened with the flights, but I spoke with my manager and it seems to be ok now. Flying is not something I would normally have to do for work, this was a one - off, however I do think I need to invest in a course as I'm sure I'll want to go on holiday sometime.
I've suffered with anxiety/panicked attacks since college and they come and go (usually when I'm in a stressful situation). I have seen my GP and attended therapy/counselling in the past. I haven't had any problems for a while, but the stress of flying must have bought it on :-s0 -

Give yourself this weekend if you can to get some proper food, no alcohol, some fresh air, some sleep and a few healthy treats . Then have a taking stock time - maybe book a couple of days holiday to do this. Depending on finances you could try a talking therapy, or life coaching or - the cheapest try writing it all down then see what advice you would give yourself if you were someone else - if you see what I mean! It is so easy to get in a downward spiral and hard to stop but its just as possible to build an upward spiral even if you cannot magic the job situuation just at the moment. Good luck
Therapy is great. Maybe a life coach would suit.
The last time I had to have therapy was for a real problem (bullying at work). Not that this makes your problems any more real BunnieJ but tons of people are in this position now re their job, my SIL, a good friend etc.
Most people have to stick it and shut up but if you want to leave (like I did recently in my job) you have to make the effort. My SIL (doing 2 people's jobs, working most weekends) didn't get better until they employed the person to cover her job (she was promoted) and this was only this month they were employed.0
