Washing soda works well. Once a month or so I do a really hot wash with washing soda, stops the machine ponging. I pop a couple of towels in, they don't really need washing washing powder any way0

I use vinegar and lemon juice, and put it on the hottest wash.0

Having read all the threads on this and tried all tips and at first got no where I think the answer is use a biological soap powder now and again and the vinegar in your rinsing water gets all of the detergent out making your laundry softer and it keeps limescale down.
I got lots of limescale out when I first used vinegar even though I had used an anti limescale tablet. The biggest bonus is my son is now free of eczema for the first time since 3 months old and he is nearly 21.0 -
Thanks all very much for the tips - I put vinegar through on a very hot wash and will see how I get on....As a dear MSE friend says “keep plodding” or

How much difference does the vinegar make? I bought some distilled malt vinegar for exactly this purpose. It's a clear vinegar (looks like water). Obviously wouldn't use balsamic, but I kind of assume any clear vinegar will work?0

white vinegar gets rid of limescale. its brilliant for cleaning washing machines and dishwashers.0

300g of soda crystals in the powder drawer, and run an empty wash on the hottest, longest cycle!Live for what tomorrow has to bring, not what yesterday has taken away0
