Someone wants to register their car to my address

I have a friend who does not have a permanent address. Nothing dodgy, its just their choice. However it is causing an issue as they don't know where to register their car to.
They have asked me to register at my address. No necessarily insure at my address, just register.
Now, I want to help this friend out but don't want it to be detrimental to my house insurance, credit score, etc etc. I also don't want to be committing fraud.
Now I read that its OK to do this, people do it with their parents address all the time. My friend will have to know the consequences about being found out he doesn't live at my address, however this is more a question how its going to affect me.

So if he doesn't have an address to register it to where's he going to insure it to ??
I think you know the answer to your question already0 -
Yeah, you are probably right. If he was to insure it to my address too, isn't that only his problem? (as he may face a rejected claim).
As I mentioned, without being nasty I only care about my interest. His risks are his own0 -
It's great that you want to do your friend a favour like this. But please do consider that, supposing he doesn't pay his car tax, any parking fines or speeding penalties, etc. - it will be your door that the bailiffs will be hammering on.
Hope your friend will be OK in the end. x0 -
When he insures his car how will he answer the question about the address where the car is normally kept? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

It looks like it's a bit of a grey area.
Somebody asked the DVLA about this through an FOI request in 2008, but didn't really get a straight answer: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/drivers_of_no_fixed_abodeAs I mentioned, without being nasty I only care about my interest. His risks are his own
It depends on his motives for doing it. If they are 'innocent motives' then you are fine.
If it's for criminal purposes, then you might be guilty of 'aiding and abetting' or 'conspiracy'. (e.g. if the friend is doing it to apply for a residents parking permit in your area, that may be considered to be fraud, which would be a criminal offence.)0 -
The wording of the FOI request stated 'can be contacted at'
I'd assume as long as this is the case, there shouldn't be an issue.
Re residents parking, all owners are checked on the electoral roll in our LA before permits are issued, so this wouldn't be possible without further issues.💙💛 💔0
