in Credit cards
hello all,
I currently have a santander 123 credit card. I received an ameail from santander informing me they will pay 3% cash back when using buses, trains, the under ground, over ground in london, is this true?
My current Oylster card is capped after the third journey on the bus, will my credit card be capped in the same way, or will i get charged the single fair every time I touch in/out?
who do you talk to if there is a issue, TFL? santander?

In general:
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/fares-and-payments/contactless
Buses in particular:
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/fares-and-payments/contactless/contactless-payment-on-buses?intcmp=1715Daily capping: The most you will pay in a day for all your bus travel will be £4.40 irrespective of the number of journeys you make
Monday to Sunday capping: The most you will pay for all your bus travel in a week ending on a Sunday, will be £20.20 irrespective of the number of journeys you make with the same contactless payment card
As TFL are the merchant that are charging you its them that you'd need to speak to if there are problems.0 -

Thankyou for the information Inside Insurance, I thought it might of been one of those scam emails.
Do you think I need to register my credit card with TFL, to get statements and things? I guess I am thinking what happens if things go wrong (i am charge the max fair, or charged twice etc..)Trinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0 -
There are some advantages of Contactless over Oyster.Oyster charges are calculated at the gate level, and if you forget to tap in and out of a station (particularly where there are no obvious barriers), you can be billed for a maximum fare of up to £8.60 that doesn't factor into the daily cap. Contactless cards are treated a little differently, however, as they're charged only once at the end of the day, and the best fare is calculated by a back-end system, not by the barriers. If you haven't tapped in and out correctly, then TfL will attempt to fill in the gaps using your previous travel history and a bit of a guesswork based on where you could've gone wrong. Hopefully this'll mean less maximum fares for you and less refund processing for TfL.
Whatever happens make sure you consciously use the same card throughout the day. You don't want to find you've paid for one journey via one card and another journey with your Oyster.0 -

You need to set up an online account with TfL if you want journey statements(up to 12 months worth!)0 -
I note you say 'we' - you cannot use the same card to pay for two people on the same journey -they need one each0

It could be two cards on one account...
My question on the Santander side is:
Is cashback paid on the cumulative tfl spend or on a transaction basis each month? Difference being, say I make two journeys each £3.50 = £7, 3% of £7 is 21p. Whereas 3% of each transaction is 9p each = 18p (because I believe Santander pay per full pound not pro rata).
Anyone had this question before...?0 -

Presumably on your cumulative (and capped, where applicable) TfL spend because that's what would be posted to your account.
From TfL's website:
"When do we charge you?
When you use a contactless payment card to travel, we take a single payment at the end of each day for all the journeys you made, so you're usually charged for your travel the day after you made your journeys."

Does anyone know if you earn cashback* when topping up of oyster card at tube stations?0
