Barclays and I know as we've loads of accounts with them sent about 3 letters for each account. The FOS will never accept on the balance of probabilities that no letters turned up.0

I have come back to thank the few people who did post some helpful comments here.
You are most welcome, don't mention it
(There is a thanks button you can use on posts that you found helpful if you'd really like to show some appreciation
)Since posting I have spoken with the financial ombusman who says I have a strong case and is dealing with it for me.
Allow me, if you will, to offer some more helpful advice.
The ombudsman will not deal with any claim until you have first exhausted the bank's own complaint procedure.
That means making a complaint to the bank and allowing at least 8 weeks for them to investigate and resolve (unless the bank issues you with a 'deadlock' letter sooner)

Hi,
I thought I would pop by and let you all know that following our talks with FOS a letter went to Barclays who have called me and admitted they were at fault and are in the process of settling compensation for me.Mummy to 4 beautiful but expensive children

I have spoken with the financial ombusman who says I have a strong case and is dealing with it for me.
Just for the avoidance of doubt and to help others who may be in a similar situation, are you saying that the FOS took this on as a case and they are dealing with Barclays on your behalf, or that they gave you some advice about what you should put in a letter that you have then sent to Barclays?following our talks with FOS a letter went to Barclays0 -
No, I am saying that I spoke to FOS who took on the case for me. They wrote to Barclays for me and then the bank contacted me to sort it out with me.Mummy to 4 beautiful but expensive children

I refer you to post #18 which said ...No, I am saying that I spoke to FOS who took on the case for me. They wrote to Barclays for me and then the bank contacted me to sort it out with me.The FOS will simply pass it on to Barclays
On an unrelated note, there appears to be an odd situation on the Loans forum where the FOS is touting for business. It feels ever so slightly inappropriate.
