Copied from the Travel forum as I was advised to put it in here:
Just a query as I'm worrying about something.
I have free annual travel insurance through a Nationwide current account. I've also suffered from IBS for years. Nationwide know this and there were no extra charges payable.
I've been poorly lately and have been referred to a consultant at the hospital. He wants to do a colonoscopy as he thinks I might have ulcerative colitis now.
At what point do I tell the travel insurance? Will they likely charge me fees if it is ulcerative colitis?
I'm due to travel at the end of December, so want to make sure I'm covered in case the worst happens and we can't go.

Read up in your policy about when you need to inform them of any health changes/new conditions.
Usually hospital visits/consultant appts are notifyable0

Thanks - I was looking at the summary booklet and I've found a more indepth booklet now
It says to ring them if I am diagnosed with...... and there's a list that includes gastro problems.
I haven't been formally diagnosed with anything other than the IBS at the moment. I'll see what they find on the colonoscopy next week and then give them a ring and see what they say. Here I go again on my own....0
