I am trying to get insurance for a car that I am considering buy, but because I have always been on my EX husbands car insurance for the past 38 years... I have been told that I do not have a No Claims Bonus! so at 61 years old and 45 years of driving without a claim the prices I have been quoted ~ I am going to pay more for the insurance than the car is worth !!:(
Does anyone have any suggestions please
The car is only going to cost me £1,000 the Insurance £1,300.00 !!
HELP

See if a local broker (not Swinton) can get you an introductory discount to reflect your driving history.
But don't make the mistake of thinking your premium should reflect the value of your £1k car!
Think of the cost should you permanently injure a breadwinner - then think what it would be if the breadwinner was a top earner!
(Is he late or "ex" - if the former see if his insurer will let you take over the NCD. If the latter see if his insurer can offer you anything for a policy in your own name by referring to your being a named driver on his policy)0

Many insurers give introductory discounts without you asking as long as youve good driving/ claims history but just have nil NCD. These are automatically applied so what you are seeing is with it
Always worth having a word with your former insurer and see if they are willing to do anything.0
