Gmail account not logging in or recognising my username.

I am having a bit of a panic and I'm not sure what to do. I went to sign in to my gmail email and it is saying the username or password is incorrect. So I tried the forgot my password link and it said for me to enter my username. I did so and then it said no account exists!

I've tried googling to see how to contact gmail but I can only get help options that don't help.

I'm 100% sure of my username and my password. Also about 2 weeks ago I noticed when I am did a google search that instead of me being logged in as my email address (as I was signed in automatically) that it started saying unknown). I never thought anything of it though.

It had some very important information in it that I should have copied but didn't. (I know I should have).

Is there any way to get it back?
How do I contact gmail?

Hoping someone out there can help me as I'm stressing over it.

oh dear, you have my sympathies, would be my worst nightmare if my google account disappeared

can't offer much practical help other than to suggest trying the "im having a problem signing in" link rather than forgot password. Details from google:
Restore a Google Account

Having a hard time recovering your account? If you use another email provider like Hotmail or Yahoo as the username for your Google Account, make sure you didn't create another Google Account using that same email address. Two accounts with the same username can't exist at the same time, so you'll need to change the username on the new account first.
If you accidentally deleted your Google Account, you have a short amount of time to try and recover it:

Go to our password assistance page.
Select "I'm having other problems signing in."
Follow the steps until you see a link to verify your identity.
Click the link to fill out our form.

I have had the same issue a couple of times. I couldn't log on from one PC but could get my email on other machines and devices.

Make sure all cookies and history are cleared and try again. That seemed to cure it for me

If it was just the password then do a password reset.
Username issue-you haven't got the CAPS lock on by any chance?

Thank you both. I did what you had said above and it worked a treat. Can't tell you how relieved I am but I am in to my email again.

Mental note to self...back up my emails just in case.
