Further Improve Credit Rating for Mortgage?

Options
Quickish background: Went bankrupt in summer 2010, discharged summer 2011, IPAs stopped summer 2013. Have been continually employed for about 5 years and have been on the electoral roll the whole time. I sorted out a few errors on my Equifax/Experian reports about 18 months ago.

Have 3 current a/cs (basic one I've always had, another I use for savings which is about to lose its 1st year 5% interest rate offer, plus new one with 5% interest rate) and have just received my first Vanquis credit card bill which will be paid in full by DD. Also have a 12 month phone contract.

Is there anything else I should or shouldn't be doing to help get a mortgage in the next year or so?

Any advice would be gratefully received.

I'm no expert but I would imagine you need a specialist broker with a bankruptcy in the background as the bad marks will be on your rating for a few years yet.

Beyond that, keep paying off the CC every month, get a good deposit together and fingers crossed for you

Edit - make sure you are on electoral roll

Thanks, will be watching very carefully to make sure the DD goes through (even though I've had paperwork confirming when/how much).

    Am on the electoral roll.

If you went bankrupt summer 2010 then it will drop off your credit history summer 2016 (providing the car CRAs have the correct details on file)
You say you would like to look at getting a mortgage in a year or so but to be honest I think if you can wait another year you will a) stand a much better chance, and b) you'll probably get a better mortgage as you'll be able to use mainstream lending rather than specialist lenders. Obviously, the bigger deposit you can save the better - and if you can wait that extra year then you'll have an even bigger one.
I'd went bankrupt back in 2007 and wasn't able to get any form of mainstream credit until it all dropped off in 2013

    Good luck

Keep saving that deposit. Manage your personal finances well. Worry less about the history that only time will heal.

    Saving - check
Manage finances - check (I need a spreadsheet to keep track of my spreadsheets!)
Worry less about history - check. The past is another country (probably Iceland in my case)

    Thanks
