Hi,

I had an account with RBS and Barclays about 5 years ago, i went over drawn by using a good few cheques and I am now paying the banks back their money (through Payplan, similar to CCCS).

Even though i didn't take great care of my accounts , can i still claim back their charges? In one way, seems cheeky as im still paying back the money i owe them from being overdrawn, but in another way, they are still unfair bank charges...

Ideas?

Whether you kept your accounts in order or not is not the issue here. The charges are unfair so you should claim them back. Simple as that.

WE're all in this position because we didn't take good care of our money. But if you get your charges back it sets you well on the way to getting back on track.

All monies they repay you will likely have to go towards offsetting your debt with them tho, but that's no bad thing.

Go for it, no moral issue at all, it was your money in the first place!!
