Difficult buyer dispute

  • That's not quite so is it. The OP may want to use Ebay again, so it's not such a cut and dry situation without knowing all the facts.

Given what's happened why would the OP want anything to do with Ebay again?

eBay are not to blame for a scamming buyer.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

But they are to blame for assisting scamming buyers by not giving sellers of collection only items the option to remove paypal as an accepted payment option.
It wouldn't be difficult to allow the paypal option to be removed on listings that only have collection in person shown.

I know that sellers can tell the buyer that they want cash on collection but they can't stop the buyer from using paypal, and if the seller simply refunds the payment, they can end up with neg feedback and having their dsr stars trashed.

We don't know, that's the point.

If their son/daughter is running a business from their home it will have a massive impact. It will close it.

Whilst I admit that may be unlikely, this is the internet, where the whole story rarely surfaces.

Will keep you in the loop.

I suspect he has made a mistake with his auto bids and bid too much on the wrong item. There was a zero rated bidder who also bid to the 700 price point pushing him up.

His email is very specific that its the wrong item and not the model it should be. Funnily enough my wife mentioned today that the guy who collected it said the same thing. 'Its not the model he was expecting to pick up'.

I dont have a a clue about models, and never mentioned a specific make or model so makes me think he is in the business, and second that he got his bids mixed up.

If he had viewed or collected himself then this could have been resolved far easier than after disassembling and taking the item back to Ireland.

I have not heard anything from him so think he is going to go straight for the paypal/ebay refund approach.

Will let you know as suspect I may need more solid advice.

    Cheers

    Already done.

Although suspect the paypal claim approach wont work due to the item being collection only and he has admitted it was collected.

    So awaiting the ebay claim.
