Am I entitled to LHA?

I've previously entered my details into a benefits checker and it informed my the only benefits help I am entitled to is WTC, however I have spoken to a couple of people who have mentioned that I should be able to qualify for LHA.

(I have telephone related anxiety and would like to get myself "sorted" before I make the call to my Local Authority)

I am self employed, working full time hours but making only the equivalent of minimum wage. I am also working full time towards a uni degree, so can't increase my wage-earning hours at this time. I have little savings - enough to buy a bit of furniture, which would be depleted by the time I would actually get around to applying for any benefits.

I checked out my LA website and in the information regarding LHA, there is zero mention about how much I must be earning/not earning to qualify. My county is Carmarthenshire if it helps.

If you are under 35 then you would only be entitled to the shared accommodation rate of LHA which you can look up on your local council website.

This is usually very low so it is quite possible that you wouldn't be entitled to any help particularly since your tax credits would be taken into account for the assessment.
