PE County Court claim form defense advice please

I received the usual Parkingeye parking charge notice some months ago after overstaying 2 hours free parking. I was given what I now know to be bad advice and told to ignore them and after a while they would go away. I now have a County Court Business Centre claim form that I have acknowledged and asked for the extra 14 days to submit a defence (about 12 days left).

I have been reading many threads to understand what defence I can claim but I am struggling as I am not sure how much detail to enter at this stage (e.g. is this the defence I would have to rely upon if they go to court, or would I add more details to my defence at that stage).

Please advise.

Post #5 of the newbies thread (sticky thread near the top of the forum) is where to start. In one of the links I give people there, bargepole is quoted as answering that exact question you asked. Plus you will see example defences and people's experiences and what other options to explore (not all end up in a hearing).

  • Thanks for your advice. I have just set up a new post on Pepipoo asking for help with drafting an initial defense statement.

And I recommend you take time to read back 20 pages on pepipoo to pick out and read every PE small claim thread you see, going back a page at a time and clicking on likely thread titles with 'Northampton/Court/Claim' in them. Same on this forum, you need to see what happened recently in the other ongoing cases, it's an eye-opener. On here, liseylou just won her case, for example.
