I doubt the GSP is sophisticated enough to vary the rate between items. Though you should look for items with similar postage as duty is charged on postage as well as item price.
  • For an auction on an item with the Global Selling Programme how do you know what the import charges will be before bidding?

I found one item with no bids and it's saying import charges are $0 based on the current bid. Even with a low start price I don't want to bid and find the charges jump to something stupid and I wouldn't have a clue what my maximum bid could be. Is there any way of knowing?

Why wouldn't you know what your maximum bid could be?
As a bidder, you decide what the most you are willing to bid is so if you assume that this is what you are going to be paying and you calculate any import/tax charges based on this figure, anything under your max bid wil be a bonus.

There are only a few of the item so can't really compare postage, they're all different.

I know what I'm willing to pay overall, but it's not simple to work out what my maximum would be when I don't know what the import charges are and then any currency charges as well. Which is why I was asking how I could find out what the import charges would be and double checking there wouldn't be any other charges.
