PCN Humberside Airport - VCS

I drove to Humberside Airport recently in order to pick up my husband. As I approached the airport my husband rang to say that his flight was early and he already had his luggage and would walk down and meet me. As I drove along the approach road I was looking out for my husband...it was 8.35 and dark...he was on the right side of me so I turned at the roundabout and came back along the road pulling in long enough for him to climb into the car... the engine was still running... then I drove away. I have now received a Parking Charge Notice requesting £100...£60 if paid within 14 days for "stopping on a roadway where stopping is prohibited" I did not know that I was committing an offence and did not see any signs re restrictions and only now realise after looking online that this is something that has only been brought in recently. I am now debating whether to put down to experience and pay or challenge as the amount charged seems high in relation to the alleged contravention. Any advice greatly appreciated!

Don't pay, challenge.
Step 1 read newbie thread (see my signature)
Step 2 search forum for VCS airport and see how many successes we have (clue - more than 99%)
Step 3- follow steps in newbie threadNewbie thread: go to the top of this page and find these words: Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > Household & Travel > Motoring > Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking. Did you not see the sticky thread in capitals 'NEWBIES PLEASE READ THESE FAQS FIRST'? Wish I could make it red and bold, but I can't!I drove to Humberside Airport recently in order to pick up my husband. I have read the thread for newbies...the template for letter of appeal to PPC which is apparently suitable for all cases... points at b) re signage being deficient and d) notice bring deficient and failing to comply with Protection of Freedom Act... how can I know if this is true in this case or do I not need to worry at this stage... is the onus on them to provide evidence?0

You don't have to know. Just send it. The whole point is merely to get a POPLA code and then win.

have just won my case for violation like yours ,
won on pre estimated loss but would have liked to have got them on
"not relevant authority" ask them to produce full contract between them self and humberside airport ,should make good reading.0 -
Update on my original post.
Following my letter to VCS setting out points
why I would not be paying the PCN, I received
a letter back stating the following:
"following a review of the points you have raised
we have decided to cancel the Notice. Our records
are now closed"
Thanks for help :-). feels good!0 -
Great news! You were lucky with the date of this charge. I expect VCS can't be bothered with POPLA now they have jumped ship from the BPA to the IPC.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
