They will only credit check if you want to pay by monthly instalments AKA taking out credit. They usually do a soft identity check though.

Never associate with idiots on their own level, because, being an intelligent man, you'll try to deal with them on their level - and on their level they'll beat you every time.

Being hated by idiots is the price you pay for not being one of them.

They shouldn't - unless you are wanting to pay up by instalments. If you are transferring any claimed NCD, they'll require written evidence if this.
  • Oh dear thats a shame I can only pay in installments...

The reason being I stay with my current insurer its £42.99 a month, but I can get it down to under £20 using a different insurer....

But if they credit check ill be turned down

are there any IVA friendly ones?

    cheers

  • Hi, I dont think it will be an issue as yes it is credit but its not like you are getting anything upfront for example goods or lump sum....you are paying for your insurance monthly should you miss a payment your policy will be cancelled.

I am in a dmp and changed insurers for the same reason and there was no problems.
  • I've never had difficulty with getting pay monthly. I'm currently with 'One Call', but prior to that, Esure.

I have heard that one or two companies get a bit sniffy with iva customers - Admiral and Swinton for example.

But as a previous poster mentioned, by and large, I think the credit check is little more than an ID verification.

Can you not scrape together ~ £200?

  • I also didn't have any difficulty getting car insurance and paying monthly whilst in an IVA. I'd been in mine for almost 2 years (of a 6 year term) when I applied.
