I have had fantastic holidays in Dominican Republic and Jamaica but personally I would not go in July its Hurricane season.
I have also been to Playa del Ingles a few times really enjoyed it. Maspalomas has some nice looking hotels

There are some great 5* AI hotels in Turkey.

Nothing wrong with the idea but it's about 230 miles each way between Orlando and Miami, and not a particularly interesting drive unless you opt for very slow roads. Perhaps somewhere on either of Florida's coasts more in line with Orlando might be better?
