PPI Reclaim on defaulted debt

Hi,
I once had a loan with HBOS until I lost my job, I was then told my PPI was invaled. I then defaulted on the loan. Since then I have build myself back up and have checked my credit rating to find that the debt was settled some time ago. Can i still claim ppi, Because they sold me a product that clearly wasn't for purpose.

Can i still claim ppi
You can still complain. However, if your complaint is successful, they can use the redress payment against the debt you failed to repay. It is possible that this could reactivate the debt (depending on timescale). So, depending on the amount of the default and the amount in PPI you paid, it may be better to let sleeping dogs lie.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
