Challenging credit card decision

Options
Just been refused a John Lewis credit card in my own name, even though I hold a joint one with my husband (and have for years and years).

I wonder if it's worth arguing?

I am a home owner.
He earns a large salary.
I earn a small salary (but more than the £4000 they stated as a minimum).

Things that are perhaps counting against me:
I am self employed.
I have a new bank account (only 1 month old)

Does this refusal count against my credit rating? I don't want to apply and be refused elsewhere if it's all going to look bad.

Thanks

The refusal will not show on your credit file. All that will show is that a credit application search was carried out.

You could appeal the decision, which will mean that the application is looked at by an underwriter rather than just a computer decision (which it may have been initially).

The 'joint' credit card won't impact on their lending decision when it comes to you or on your credit file. It is not actually a joint card if you are an additional cardholder, your husband is solely responsible for repayment of any debt/spending on his own card and those of any additional cardholders.
