Morrisons taking time to clear account?

Options
Does anyone ever have this problem?

I normally pay with cash so never notice, but yesterday I paid at the pump, spent £20 to fill my tank and it hasn't gone off my available balance like I would expect, although I get this issue with Tesco all the time.

I do have a pending transaction on my account but that's only for £1 and petrol normally comes up at "morrisons petrol"

That's the whole point of 'ofline' cards - no online authorisation from the card provider is needed at the time of purchase, and the retailer can take up to 6 months to process the transaction (not that they normally take more than a few days).
Usually only 'ofline' cards can be used to pay at a pump (or in a train, plane etc.).

  • Pay at pumps always come up as a £1 pending in the available funds section, just remember the full amount will come out in a few days.

Didn't know that - thanks for the heads up! So £20 will come out not £21?

  • Yeah, you will only be charged for what you took (In this case, £20 worth of fuel). They wouldn't get away with charging you £21 :)

The £1 just seems to sit as a place holder until they take the correct amount.

It's very easy to forget that pay at the pump transaction and think you have £19 more than you do then all of a sudden, they take the £20 and it feels like your down £19 lol
