iPad Air Alternatives

Right, I'm hoping that someone can help me! I've been tasked by my boss to source a tablet for a colleague. Essentially, it needs to be a viable Android alternative to the iPad Air (which will be put forward as an option but he may be too stingy to accept).
Requirements are:
- Similar screen size (ideally 10.1inch but could probably drop to 9);
- Similar size/weight (i.e. not a hulking budget beast from China);
- Less expensive than the Air;
- Offer 3G/4G access (i.e. not just Wifi);
- Power not overly important (i.e. I need for it to be responsive and a good user-experience but it doesn't make to be the very, very latest cutting edge technology);
- Storage isn't important (16gb would be preferable minimum but may get away with 8gb);
- Preferably a decent brand name rather than a cheap import as I'm leaving so won't be able to fix any issues.
Any recommendations please (links would be very much appreciated as it is a bit of a minefield out there)? Thanks.

There's the Nexus 10 - https://www.google.co.uk/nexus/10/ £319 for the 16gb model
I guess £80 cheaper isn't too awesome
There may be a new Nexus 9 model coming out soon though0 -
There are many articles on this on the web already, eg: http://www.cnet.com/uk/news/how-the-top-ipad-air-alternatives-compare-with-apples-latest-tablet/
Really looking at the Samsung Galaxy, Google Nexus, Microsoft Surface (if windows is ok rather than android), Kindle Fire and Asus Transformer0 -

I'm specifically asking here because I don't want a generic CNET article or similar which is almost twelve old and doesn't cover actual users experiences. Some of them I've seen are pure marketing hype.Personal ISA Contributions Challenge - current £0 (as at 1 April 2014) / target £15,000 (deadline 31 Mar 2015)0 -

The bonus with that is that you can share the signal/cost between devices
Or.. pony up £414 for one of these (Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition (4G + Wi-fi, 16GB): http://www.expansys.com/samsung-galaxy-note-10-1-2014-edition-4g-wi-fi-16gb-white-255139/0 -
I have a Samsung Note 10.1 These are perfect for an office I think, especially because of the S-Pen that allows propper hand written note taking

the lenovo yoga 10 HD+ table might be interesting as it has a slight different take on a tablet which might be better for usage, although your still looking at £330 for a wifi and 3g modelDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0
