Appeal against redundancy

Any advice on appealing against a decision to make hubby redundant would be welcome.
Briefly he was put at risk just over a month ago and was told it was based on sickness/disciplinaries over the last 12 months (Bradford method). Hubby had an excellent sickness record for over six years but sadly last year was not good for him and he had quite a bit of time off following a nervous breakdown and a knee op - he is still on medication for his nerves and I think loosing his job will probably make him worse.
Fast forward to last week and he has now been given notice of redundancy and 7 days to appeal against the decision.
To date (despite asking twice) we still do not have a copy of the policy that they are supposed to be following and the anonomised scores of his department. His department contains over 40 people doing the same job and at least 10 are supposed to be going yet it does not appear that all people have been included.
Any suggestions on an appeal would be appreciated. I am aware that it may be a lost cause but its worth trying.

The only possible flaw that I can see here wold be if everyone in the same role was not included - but "appear" and "fact" are very different things. Can you prove that some people in the same role were not included?
Unfortunately, previous record is not relevant, and if he has a higher sickness rate than others in the relevant period, then that is a fair judgement in law.0 -
Thanks for taking the time to reply to my thread.
Today we have finally received anonymised scores despite requesting them before the notice of redundancy letter was issued. The only hope we possibly have is that the list only contains 20 scores and not everyone in the department.0 -
It doesn't have to be everyone in the department - how many people do the same role as your husband? Remember its the role that is redundant as the need for the number of those roles required and then the scoring that determines who is then made redundant0

1) you are making sweeping assumptions that may not be correct
2) it is the equality act 2010
3) The union are unlikely to deal with ongoing issues.
