There are a couple of ways they can achieve that but the key point you've picked up on is that they ARE at risk of crystallising the small loss :).

agreed. it is the high risk ie. strong likelihood of losing a small amount that concerns me...losing only 3%/day, for example, would be a quick way to the poor house, regardless of the potential for the very occasional 100% gain:think:
that said, downside protection certainly has an appeal..

& i have used stop losses in the past, especially with my old comdirect account. in those days i always liked to buy something that was rising, put a stop loss in just above the price i had paid, and then let it roll...sometimes increasing the stop loss level, locking in profit.

but then i did find stop losses caused me to sell out when actually i would have been much better to have hung on.. nowadays, using HL (transferring to iii) i have become a 'buy & hold' investor, generally to my benefit. but i am sitting on losses on some small caps that, arguably, i ought to have protected the downside on.. FTSE100 companies like Standard Chartered and Anglo American i am fairly happy to just sit on.

So where can I find a similarly interesting programme from another broadcaster?

There is another programme I found quite interesting, from 2009, available on Youtube, in three episodes, called Million Dollar Traders.

BTW, both episodes of the programme flagged by the OP, Traders Millions by The Minute, are available on Youtube, in case anyone missed them and fancies a look.
