Making a will

Can anyone advise on how is the best way to have a will drawn up, is online sufficient or is it best to see a local solicitor? Also, how much should I expect to pay- need 2 wills (DH & myself, we are married with 2 children and DH has one grown up DS from previous relationship. TIA

  • It depends on how complex your affairs are and to some degree how strongly you feel about it going to the desired person or not.

    If its a simple, it goes to each other unless you die together in which case its equally split between the three kids then theres plenty of budget ways to do that. If you want trusts in place or want to write someone out etc then its more likely you need a professional

    When two of the children are "theirs" and one is "his", life can get complicated.

    If the estate isn't going to be evenly split or there is a chance that the widow might remarry and invalidate this will, the step-child's inheritance may need to be protected.
