SSE Economy 7 meter clock wrong!

Options
Hiya,
Ive just had the meter reader guy out to do my readings. Ive had problems with both suppliers and have the day and night readings mixed up even after telling them god knows how many times. EON are now threatening to take me to court after charging me around £250 for one months bill. Any way hes just checked the meter and hes told me the the clock on the meter is around 14 hours behind the actual time. Will this make a difference to my bills and what will SSE and possibly EON do about it?
Thanks

Yes, it means that all your daytime usage (approx 10am to 5pm) will be on cheap rate, which for many people will be a great advantage, as you can heat your hot water and NSH's during the daytime.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Its not really SSE s fault, they dont normally check if your timerswitch is nt correct. It will be an older type 24 hr analogue switch. Having the 7 hours cheap rate in a good time like that is a plus factor only if you are aware of it and can take advantage. Not many meter readers ever take much notice about these timerswitches, Scottish Power have started to take an interest in what time they are set and now ask us to check them.
  • Hi Ressy2012

Thought I'd pop on with a bit of information about our final bill.

With a change of supplier, it's the new supplier's responsibility to let the old supplier know the meter readings they intend to use to start their account. The old supplier uses the same readings to close their account.

As we no longer have access to the meter, we won't be able to do anything about the timeswitch fault.

If, though, your new supplier decides their opening readings are wrong and lets us know we'll be happy to re-bill our final bill to the new readings.

    Hope this helps.
