Excel Oven Cleaning Ltd, Leeds - No Response

This company offers a twice-yearly cleaning service for domestic ovens based on a monthly premium.
I have been trying to make a booking with them for my service but their 0845 contact number is now disconnected and their web site has gone down over this weekend (21st Sept 2014)
I have managed to contact what appears to be a sister company with a similar name in Lincoln last week but now that number is unanswered.
Clearly they have stopped trading (holding 6 months of my premiums) so I would suggest that any of you with similar contracts with them to stop your direct debits immediately.
The company, which seems to trade under various variations of the Excel name, also offers maintenance contracts on many other domestic appliances, especially Dyson vaccuum cleaners.

Are these the people concerned ?

If so, might be worth getting the name of the person who registered the website from http://www.nominet.org.uk/whois/lookup?query=excelovencleaning.co.uk which gives you some details. Armed with the name and address, I'm sure you can consider a small claims court action...0 -

Thanks Vuvuzela
I have already got the name of the MD of the company. He registered another equipment maintenance company from the same Leeds address that lasted three years and folded last year.
I suspect the scam is as follows:
Do a cheap one-off oven clean deal through Groupon and similar and so get a big response in a very short time. Do an excellent cleaning job and so talk the people who respond into a contract. This gives a large monthly income for six months and then fold the company before having to start delivering on the first repeat visit.
In our case, we have paid 5 payments of £9.99 so it's not worth the hassle of chasing it as it is a limited company and the directors will have left it with no assets. They have probably pocketed hundreds of £50 and £60 subscriptions,though!0 -
Good News !
Just happened to try the 0845 number for this company on the offchance that it would connect and that someone would answer - and they did!
It seems that new operators have taken over here and that they are honouring existing contracts - they have arranged an appointment to clean our oven !

Good news. Don't understand why you'd want to pay a monthly premium.0
