Used our credit card in Lidl today (CapitalOne MasterCard) for the first time:)
Hope Aldi follows soon.0 -
You will, I think, have been using a debit card. Credit cards could not previously be used.
You will please note that I am fully aware of the difference between a credit card and a debit card and I assure you that I NEVER use my debit card for anything other than withdrawing cash from my account.
My credit card on the other hand has been getting used in Lidl for years with no problem whatsoever.0 -
in London or at least in my north London borough we have not been able to use credit card to pay in Lidl prior to this new announcement. I received an email last thurs to say we now can. haven't tested yet but am pretty sure it will work as I have an email confirming they will accept it now.0

Just used a CC in Lidl, giving me 4% cash back.
Whether they'll raise prices by 4% to cover the CC fees remains to be seen, then it's back to square one!0 -

I have been using Credit Cards in both Aldi and Lidl since around 2005 without problem.
I also never use a debit card where I can use a credit card without an additional charge.0 -

But do you live in England?;)0 -
Not Lidl (for the moment?) but Aldi, a couple of points from the Daily Telegraph 29.09.14:Another key milestone for Aldi this Christmas will be allowing shoppers to pay with credit cards for the first time.As a result of customer comments, Aldi will start to accept credit cards from later this year.0

I think they accepted cc but also put on a charge and now they don't. IKEA also used to accept cc but added a charge so I used to pay by debit card.
Now both IKEA and Lidl and Aldi don't put on a charge for using cc0 -
I'd happily been using my credit card in Lidl until March this year. They then stopped taking credit card payments, and only took debit card payments.
I was shoping there last week and big sign on the chip and pin machine "We now take credit cards".
I don't get it, the cashier didn't get it, but all I care about is that I can now continue earning cashback on my shopping.

Still no Amex in Aldi
- Just the usual Visa, MasterCard and Maestro.
I wonder if they take the more exotic cards likes VPay, JCB or DiscoverThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
