PPI - very limited data known, paid off in 03, is it worth it?
I took out a loan with my ex partner in 2001 and I know there was PPI on it. I'm just after any advice that anyone might be able to give as I feel its a lost cause trying to claim although my Dad thinks it could be worth further attemts...
-Seeing as I know I signed for PPI would I still be able to claim for it on the basis that I possible didn't really need it?
- I don't have any paperwork anymore or use the bank account that the payments would have been taken from. I believe the account is still there but it would be a lot of looking for the account details!! I thought the loan was with lloyds black horse and I wrote to them with our names, dob's, dates etc but was told without a policy number they wouldn't be able to find anything that old on their system.
- To add more complications I'm no longer in contact with my ex (although could message him through FB in necessary) but I did take over the loan solely when we split a year after taking out this loan. Do I need to contact him as would he need to be involved with this process? I guess I'm also worried that could he already have claimed this without me knowing and then I'll be really mad?!!!!
Am I just chasing a dead horse with this or does anyone out there think that I should persue, maybe with looking for the old bank account statements first for any further info? I don't want to go to a firm who chase these as why should they get any money I might be entitled to, right?!!! The loan was paid off early in 03.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

Ok, maybe I should just leave it there then.

Thank you.
Doesn't mean it's not worth pursuing if there is evidence of miss-sale (such as the single premium approach) but if no records are left and you don't have any you will find it hard to even prove you had it even before you start a complaintSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I figured if they were prepared to message on FB (she does say she lost contact, rather than trying to avoid) then they probably weren't blocking each other to hide locations

Thanks both, I could message him (I'm not friends with him but could probably find him to message) but I'm not sure if it will be worth it seeing as I don't really have much to go on for putting a claim in. Not sure if it could open a can of worms or how my husband would feel contacting him etc.
I will have a think about it. Maybe I could just see how much info I could find to judge whether it might be worthwhile.
Sometimes though you probably have to put things down to bad experience and know for next time!!!!

Sending a message to a non-friend on Facebook is not recommended as it goes to another folder and can sit there unread for months in my experience.SuperSavingMummy wrote: »I'm not friends with him but could probably find him to message0
