Ryanair allocated seating

Is it possible to add allocated seating after checkin?

Ie check in with free random allocation, then return to see where they have put us and pay for seats if they have been silly?

The FAQ pages suggest all is fixed once checkin is done.

  • Don't think so, I've just checked in for a flight and seat was assigned to boarding card and no option to change

Had two flights last week (pax x 2) and on both flights I was sat next to my wife and on a virtually full flight we ended up with a vacant seat next to us so probably did better than those who had paid extra for preferential.

For the record, have checked in without paying for choice of seat and have got two together both ways.
