Would New Job Threaten Redundancy Payment?

My wife is due to be made redundant next month by a local authority because of drastic changes in the structure of the department she works in. She has been given a figure of how much money she will receive. She could have re-applied for her old job (positions reduced from 16 to 6) but she chose not to because she does not like the new system.
Another job has cropped up in the same local authority in the same general department but in a different specific area.
If my wife applies for this job will it threaten her redundancy payout?

The local authority should be taking the various vacancies throughout the organization and looking to offer these as suitible alternative where there is a match.0

Hi
I work for a Local Authority and may also be affected by redundancy in the next few months.
My understanding is that you can not work for an organisation in the LGPS (pension scheme) until 28 days after your redundancy date. I would be very wary about accepting a job or even getting a job offer during this 28 day period as your wife may well lose her redundancy payment. Obviously this depends on your circumstances and how much you prioritise your redundancy over continuous employment.
I would ask your wife to check the rules around seeking employment following redundancy.0
