    Tenth Anniversary
I watched a you tube video of how they catheterise through a very small stoma on your stomach (sometimes they can even be hidden in your belly button apparently!). Was a bit weird, but I'm sure you get used to it!

I've just got visions of a bag coming unstuck, leaking, showing through clothes, and generally being a pain. And the pictures of the stomas involved with those are huge, like a giant red cricket ball coming out your side. I guess if you don't have any choice and have to have one you get used to it, but I'd much prefer the other option.

I'm really pleased your sister in law feels she has her life back with it though, thats great to hear and makes me feel a lot more positive about things.

Ladyshopper I hope that when the time comes every thing will be as you wish, re the stomas I don't know exactly what you have seen but although an IA stoma is for the bowel I know that my mums one was about the size of a cherry and yes the bag was not the nicest but the quality of life it gave her was amazing, I hope that you can choose the soloution that suits you:)

Remember the Sampleyes app from a few months back? I think we got free Vimto squash from it. They have 500 Vaseline lip therapy to give away.
I have to say that although the samples are few and far between on there so far, I've received everything I've requested and I like not having to enter details for everything.
I got some joint tablets for dogs from them. I think it was £16 worth, at the same time as the vimto, so thanks for the app

Thanks izzy. I believe they are larger to start with and then shrink. I know I'm lucky to have a choice of procedures (well, I think I have a choice, will find out when I go to see the consultant!) and as I said, if it was the bag or nothing I would go for the bag. I'm sure whatever I end up having will take some getting used to, but I will, as I won't have any choice but to get on with it.

I'm glad your Mum has a great quality of life now, thats really good to hear.

If I was you, I would insist on not having a bag x

I hope I can, will let you know after my appointment! I've done loads and loads of papers, read medical journals and papers, including some written by my consultant. I just feel the other option will be more appropriate for me. Fingers crossed the consultant agrees.
