Evening! I'm sitting here tucked up in bed all cosy and warm. First day was good I think....I mean I got stuff started and made some headway but it's tricky not having that feedback you get from colleagues. I've had some nice things said over email but it's all a bit bizarre! I'm sure I'll get used to it.

One thing I am somewhat confused about is (and I was going to go to the bank to discuss tomorrow) they mentioned they might pay me in Canadian dollars direct to my bank. I've never been paid in anything other than pounds before- can I lose out this way? Would be lovely if anyone here has any insight into this.

My hubby works for american company, pay role is over there but its transferred into his bank in pounds/ x

Your bank may allow this, but they may also charge you for the privilege.

Also, your salary in £ may differ from one month to another, depending on the $ to £ exchange rate.

Ring your bank and double check this but your new employers will need not only your normal sort code and account number to pay your salary into but also the IBAN number and BIC number - these are on the front page of my statements so they might be on yours as well.
Are you classed as self employed ie paying your own NI stamp and doing accounts for tax purposes?
If you are a normal wage slave not sure how the tax and NI is paid ???
