    Hi all.

Hope you have all had a good day.

I went shopping today and saw shed loads of bargains, items on reduced to clear and such like.

SAINSBURYS - shed loads of reduced to clear items in the beauty/pharmacy section. Items included stop smoking products, flu products, pain relief, smelly feet products, hair colour, face creams, birth control items and Slim Fast products. Best item had to be some kind of posh hair colour kit down from about £8 to £1, and Scholl foot spray from £3 to 50p (some moose cleared the lot out!).

ASDA (big store) - huge reductions in the freezer section. Look for the red shelf edge labels saying SALE or RTC. Items included Birds Eye fish/chicken products, posh ice creams, Asda own brand ice creams, and various animal products (I'm vegetarian, so didn't pay much attention but there was one young lady who was filling her trolley with what looked like frozen minced cow/lamb/pig). Best item had to be Birds Eye fish fillets in breadcrumbs down from £2.25 to 75p. There were also items in the beauty section on clearance.

ASDA (ex Netto) - almost the whole pharmacy/beauty section was on clearance. Items included stop smoking products which were 75% off, weight loss products, Slim Fast items and birth control / ovulation kits / pregnancy tests.

BOOTS are currently having a mammoth clear out of vitamins and minerals, and baby products. The sell by dates are up until 2015 and the vitamins and minerals are also on 3 4 2, so you could end up with some right bargains. Stocked up vitamin c and effervescent tablets.

Finally, went into B AND M and got some Mugshot soup sachets for 10p. It was a pack of 3. Probably taste like carp but a bargain all the same.

    I think I need a rest now.

    Okay.

Just when you think you've lost enough money on stuff (bought mattress protectors, duvet protectors, pillow protectors, new tumble dryer, new vax steam mop already today!!!), then you find out that your blooming printer has died.

It's telling me my paper tray needs to be filled when its full.

I've tried smacking it, fiddling, turning it upside down and patting its bottom (in case of obstructions!), etc etc.

    Nowt works.

Law of sod, and all that.

Typical that I recently bought inks too :(

So now I have to but an AirPrint type printer too tomorrow.

    Is it the coupon jinx?!

Have any of you tried my time rewards? There is a link to it from Amazon with a £15 Amazon gift voucher if you do the free trial. £10 a month thereafter but it says you can cancel anytime. tempted but would rather check with you lot first

Sorry, have never heard of them. There are a number of paid for cashback sites and other offer sites that offer a free trial with a sign up reward to suck you in, but then have unfair terms and conditions that trap you into paying.

I fell for one a while ago (yes me, not normally Mr Gullible!) as you had to wait beyond a certain date to cancel before getting your "reward" and it wasn't immediately obvious how to cancel - yep, memberhip auto renewed :o.

Triple check everything if you are even considering it - you could post the link to the deal here if it is online and we can all take a look to work out if it is safe or a scam (or at least try to!) - if it is safe, I am sure others will be on it too .

I hope no one minds me sharing this link, can you believe Breast Cancer gene has been patented in Australia. I don't really understand the implications myself but have signed the petition as I think this could lead to a worrying future.

Sorry to butt in, as you asked Rose, not me, :o but I just wanted to recommend anyone with thyroid issues taking a look at the Thyroid Patient Advocacy website.
    http://tpauk.com/main/

As well as a very informative website they also have a very friendly & helpful forum http://tpauk.com/forum/

I won't bore you with my story, but I was very ill with undiagnosed autoimmune thryoid disease (Hashimotos). This may sound over dramatic but I really feel like I owe my life to the people at Thyroid Patient Advocacy . Not because they directly did anything, but thanks to them I educated myself on the thyroid system and took steps to get the tests and treatment that I needed.

My GP and (later) endocrinologist was very impressed that I had learnt so much about endocrinology. :D

It wasn't easy, at first all the talk of T4 & T3 thyroid hormones and adrenal glands was like learning a new language... but I am sooooo glad I did learn!

There are many different types of thyroid disease, so what helps one person may not be suitable for another. In fact it could be dangerous.

For me, avoiding all gluten really helped as my disease is auto immune and gluten stimulates the body to produce the Anti-TPO antibodies that are attacking my thyroid. I also make sure all my vitamin and mineral levels (iron ferritin, selenium etc ) are in range as this is very important for the thyroid to function properly.

From what I have read, there is a massive problem in this country with undiagnosed or poorly managed thyroid disease.
If you visit your GP and they suspect you have thyroid issues, they will almost certainly do a "TSH" test ( thyroid - stimulating hormone)however, it is possible to have a perfectly normal result for the TSH test and still have very serious thyroid problems. I know as I did!! I finally saved my pennnies and had test done privately that confirmed I had Hashimotos thyroiditis. These were then repeated and confirmed by an NHS endocrinologist. I dread to think where I would be now if I hadn't educated myself. My heart goes out to anyone struggling with their thyroid as it can really make you feel very very ill.:(

Sorry for the long post! I said I wouldn't go on lol. :o:rotfl:

:j:j hello, another TPA member here, it's a fabulous site. Having got hold of a copy of my medical records I can now see my Thyroid has been failing for over 10 years but have just today got an appointment to see an endo at the hospital.....it will be interesting to see who knows most about my Thyroid problems :D hopefully I will get someone who won't try to fob me off & will do the elusive T3 tests & not just the TSH which is as useful as a chocolate teapot without taking actual symptoms seriously.
Would advise anyone who thinks they may have Thyroid problems to visit the site, there are thousands of people being told "the blood tests are fine, you're just depressed/menopausal/have ME/ChronicFatigue etc":eek::eek::mad::mad::mad:GPs often have little training in this area and usually just do the standard blood tests which often don't flag up the fact that the Thyroid hormones in the body can't work properly if they can't be converted to T3 which is the hormone which actually gets into the cells. This is a very complicated process which also depends on certain levels of minerals to function correctly.
TPAUK.com is full of useful info and links and everyone is very supportive & Sheila who runs the site is an :A
