Parking Eye Court Claim Received

Hi all, I've done a lot of research into this but I can't find anything that is similar to mine so I wondered if you could help :)
Basically my car was parked on a hotel car park operated by parking eye for less than half an hour because the parking next door was full.
I received a parking fine, which I was told to ignore by many people and followed their advice. I've now received a court claim form and again, under advice I have put a defence claim in online.
My intention was to fight on the grounds that they haven't made a loss, as the car park was quite empty and I wasn't there for long. I'm nervous about having to go to court as I've followed people's advice up to now and I sadly wish I'd paid and hadn't let this go this far. Do any of you have any advice? Is that a valid defence or will I get laughed out of court? Thanks. Pops x

If you're not feeling confident enough to face a PE lawyer in court I'd be seriously asking your 'friends' who advised ignoring the original correspondence to dig deep into their pockets and pay this off for you. This was so easily winnable at the initial stage had you come to the forum. The only ignoring you should have been doing was that of your friends advice.

If you are going to defend this, you need to spend some time with the NEWBIES sticky at the top of the forum index, starting at post #5.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

You must start by reading LOTS of other Parking Eye court claim threads and all the links in post #5 of the Newbies thread.

    {Rhetorical questions}... Do you:

    Know about the Beavis case?

Know about what to do when, with forms like the Directions Questionnaire and when to file your full defence & exhibits?

Know what those exhibits might be?

Know about when to write to see if your Judge will 'stay' the case?

Know about the Parking Prankster's Guide to defending a PE claim?

Have you already gone and outed who was driving, in the defence? Ooops...

Start with the Newbies thread (ONLY post #5 of it but read every link and hyperlink there) then read every single PE claim/Northampton/court thread title you can find, on this forum, and on the first 20 pages or so here on pepipoo:

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=60

Shedloads of cases to read about what happened. It's a shame you have already put your defence in as if you've missed any important point you may well struggle later. But not all cases end up in a hearing in court (and neither is it a stark choice between a hearing or paying). Read lots and lots of PE claim threads first.
