mini oven flames

Options
Hi,

I have a mini oven and caught fire, I was cooking some greasy joint, the splatter caused a flame.
The flames are gone now, all is fine but my question is... would it be safe to use the oven again or shall I chuck it away?.

Comments

  • Were the flames big or small?

Burning for a few hours or a few seconds?

Was the oven on fire or just the food within?

Have you tried cleaning and inspecting the interior of it for any signs of obvious damage?

    Does it still turn on?

well, the flames were medium size I guess... burning for no more than 30 seconds, I didn’t open the door, flames died out . The food wasn’t burnt , it’s the oil and fat in the pan that caused the flames

I don’t see any damage, the oven seems clean, I’m just scared to switch it on
  • I would suggest chucking it out, or at least getting it opened up and checked and cleaned inside by a competent electrician or appliance repairer. You don't know how the fire has damaged the wiring or deposited grease around the contacts, compromising the insulation.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
