We are having a conservatory fitted, and due to various issues with the company over the last few months I have lost confidence in them.
They have built the base wall and have now put up and part glazed the frame. One side fits more or less flush to the wall , the other side has a large gap , and on that side there is also a large gap between the frame and the door opening which to us looks as tho if they had moved that part of the frame it would have fitted flush to the house wall and the base wall .
The wall it is being fitted to is an extension that was built about 15 years ago I would be surprised if the wall wasn't level
Am I worrying for no reason , is it normal for there to be gaps ? What would they fill them with anyway
The site manager is meeting us on site tomorrow to discuss other issues , but would like to know if it is a problem before he fobs off ...... again !!

Everything should fit perfectly. Your conservatory should have been measured, then made in a factory to millimetre accuracy. A gap against your wall is acceptable if your walls are noy exactly vertical. Also, a gap for movement is acceptable but there should be a good fixing here. The gap would be sealed with a sealant and could be 5mm wide. The hole subject of gaps and movement should be part of the design...but tends not to get consideration.
Unfortunately conservatories are an unregulated area of construction. It is common for them to be poorly built. It is also probable that the "site manager" will be a sales person, and have little technical knowledge.
MIL is having one built at the moment. The builders would be kicked off any building site - they do not have much idea of what they are doing. However, they come highly recommended from other elderly people!
Ignorance is bliss in the conservatory market.0
