European Dec travel timing

hello, i visit parents on military base in Germany one/twice a year and i still can't figure out timing (when to book). i wanna travel around 20 Dec so anyone know best timing, offers, discounts? should i book now? Luftansa's prices are rubbish lately shame they're a good airline. I'm going Man to Fra. any help will def be useful :j. thanx Kim
