hi all. sorry if this is already covered on here but cant find anything. went to merry hill shopping centre on my motorbike and, as I couldn't find a parking space, parked my bike on pedestrian area out of the way so as not to block path. came out after going to one shop to find parking attendant putting ticket on my bike. asked him to show me signs directing me to motorcycle parking but there are non. asked him where motorcycle parking was and he said inside multi story or by asda, even though no parking is painted on floor. asked him how I was supposed to know this with no signs and he couldn't answer. got back home and went on their website (ukpc) put in ticket number and registration number and it came up unable to find parking charge. looked again at ticket they put wrong letter on registration number. took a screen print. used number on ticket photos came up. also has make as other and colour not stated. sorry to ramble on a bit but where do I stand.

Stand wherever you want!
There are many threads like this but read the Newbies Sticky carefully first - that outlines all your options for getting rid of them.
Also stop engaging with UKPC right now!
If they have the wrong reg for you, it is highly likely they won't get your details from the DVLA - which means they will not be able to send an NTK and fall flat on their faces at the first hurdle (this happens quite a lot!). So wait and see if you actually get an NTK - don't go handing them this info on a plate!

would forget about it. I've had dealings with them in the past on my motorbike, due to cars parking in the motorbike bay and me parking my bike on the chevrons just outside the bay but as close as I can to it.
They are just trying to get money out of you, but it's small technicalities like this that get you off with such ridiculous tickets.0 -

Ermm, no, it's not. Small technicalities might get you off a council PCN but Private Parking Companies just make up their own rules. UKPC are specialists in putting incorrect information on their tickets, deliberately. Many people do think that these "technicalities" will get them "off" the ticket, but in reality by contacting them you are just saving them £2.50 having to go to the DVLA for your name and address.
Now forget all of those minor details and just follow the standard advice on the Newbies thread. Appeal to UKPC, when they decline appeal to POPLA. UKPC are very easy to beat at POPLA, and you get the consolation of knowing you've cost them £27
If all that seems like too much effort you can pay £16 to http://www.parkingticketappeals.org.uk/ to make it go away. All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. Edmund Burke Irish orator, philosopher, & politician (1729 - 1797).0 -
Hi all. Thanks for your replies. I'm going to wait till I get ntk. Also noticed that on ticket he says he saw my bike three minutes after I got my receipt from shop. Its about a four minute walk from shop to bike so could he take pics, type out ticket, put it in envelope and stick it on my bike in a minute? don't know if this makes any difference but these tickets seem a bit vague on details.0

I had the same at Braehead Shopping Centre - no designated m/c parking so I used the pavement. Returned to have a ticket, which I fully intended to ignore. 3 weeks on the begging letters began, which I continued to ignore. When I was next at the SC I went to the management suite to ask where the M/c parking bays were (they gave them in the East car park but not the west). They advised it was an oversight.
Interestingly, the begging letters stopped at the same time. With an incorrect VRM the prospect of you heating anything further are nil.
I'd forget about it. Alternatively, complain to the SC if you want to feel better.0 -
Braehead is in Glasgow, where POFA 2012 does not apply but Merry Hill is near Birmingham IIRC? In England hich means POFA does apply and the OP will need to act against this, not ignore.0

Ermm, no.
The wrong VRM is uncannily common with UKPC, they will just get the correct VRM from the photo. By waiting for the NTK you are doing the right thing. All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. Edmund Burke Irish orator, philosopher, & politician (1729 - 1797).0 -
My point was that the SC cancelled the pursuit.0
