Changing postage charges

I recently bid an won an item on ebay uk for 99p.
Item said Postage: Will post to United Kingdom. Read item description or contact seller for postage options. | See details
Item location:
Shenzhen, China
It now transpires items postage is 4 times the price of the item and I am not happy. I specifically remember it saying free postage when I searched as there were hundreds of these available. I think that free postage was to china and I wouldnt have bought this for £5 or more than a couple of pounds.
Has anyone else experienced this. I have rechecked the original ad and their is no list or any sense of international postage charges.

The message you have copied in blue is what is displayed when the seller has not specified postage to a country. Obviously without seeing the listing it's impossible to comment on what you did or did not see.0 -
Thanks - have sent payment now as postage price varies depending on how I log in to check item.
All very strange but will be far more vigilant about this next time.0
