I want to make a fairly expensive purchase and was thinking of getting this AME card to get the benefit of the 5%. I realise I would need to spend a further £1000+ on it to qualify for the cashback. And see they charge £20 a year if the card is not used thereafter.
" Dormancy Fee of £20 is payable for each 12 month period during which there is no movement on your Account and the Account balance is less than £4 or your Account is in credit." So if I say used the card once for £5 in any following year I would not get charged the £20 dormancy Fee ? Or if I cancelled the card after the first year after I had received the cashback is there any cancelling penalty?
As my other cashback card pays 1% on everything- the AME loses its appeal after the first year!
thanks

There is no cancellation fee that i am aware off for this card. They also offer another card which is the Platinum cashback card. this does have a £25 fee but the cashback rate on this card is higher then the everyday card which has tiered cashback. I have just got the Platinum cashback card. From my calculations without the tired cashback, this card worked out better with 5% cashback on £2500 instead of £2000 and all subsequent purchases at 1.25% cashback rather then 0.5% upto £3500, 1% upto £7500 spend and then 1.25% over 7500. This is for annual spend.
If you get the Platinum cashback card, then i can refer you and we both get £25, so the first year fee will effectively free. If you would like then then PM me you full name and email and i can do this for you.0 -
There's no cancellation fee, just make sure you cancel after the cashback has been paid (else you'll lose it). One transaction a year seems to be sufficient to avoid the dormancy fee, but just cancel it if you're not going to use it.
If you want a referral for the fee-based card please go to the Referrers forum and ignore people who tout for referrals here (which is against the rules).0
