How to get chewing gum out of a fabric sofa

My friend sat on my sofa and unfortunately had a piece of chewing gum stuck to his a$$ (Don't ask )

I've tried freezing the cover and have got most of it out, but it pretty ingrained into the fabric and I'm struggling to get it out.

Any ideas?

Have you tried warming it with a hairdryer to soften?

That's actually the exact opposite of what is normally advised.

You need a freeze spray, this hardens the gum and can usually be chipped off easily
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
  • My girlfriend had a problem with this, she found putting a piece of tissue or scrap cloth over it then ironing to soften will remove the chewing gum straight off.

    Goodluck!

You can also heat up sticky substances to remove them. The iron method works too like PatrickC said.

Just quoting the best advice I know of, freeze it is the opinion, heating it makes it even stickier and harder to remove, do the research.

Electrical fire extinguisher will freeze it right down to chip off. I have also read oil and/or peanut butter (due to the oils in it) will harden/reduce the stickiness so in combo with freezing this MAY also work.
