Hi All!
Been looking at these & as the Sony's with hard drive are getting a bit cheaper & they have £30 cashback, just now, is it better to go for one of these, rather than mini DV tapes.
I've also looked at the dearer High Definition models, so not sure if the picture quality is better, as we don't have an HD tv, so guess a waste of extra $£$£$!
Any help appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Personally I would still stick with mini dv mainly due to archiving. I also prefer the robustness of tape over storage on a hard drive and the thought of removable media for that long trip away. I'm sure others would disagree. One thing to remember, professionals still use tape as a primary method of recording."...IT'S FRUITY!"0

hi,
I have just bought one of these. I bought the Sony DCR-SR72, as I like the ability to grab the mpg file directly from the camcorder and instantly watch it on my PC. Besides, I dont own a DVD player. I do however have several networked media players throughout the house.
One question though that may sway a decision. One feature I used to like of DV format was the ability to extract the date/time stamp from the data. I used to append that to a DVD as a caption that could be shown or hidden while watching the DVD.
Can this still be done? Or is the date time information throughout the recording not saved on the HDD models?0
